As a Wadawurrung woman herself, Macaylah brings a wealth of cultural knowledge to her work, crafting an experience that is deeply enriched by her heritage and traditions. Her expertise and insights create a culturally immersive and authentic experience for all involved, fostering a profound understanding and appreciation of Wadawurrung culture.
Our experience
Macaylah commenced her professional journey at Loreto College Ballarat, assuming the role of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Liaison Officer. In this capacity, she played a vital role in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for Indigenous students, nurturing their cultural identity, and promoting educational opportunities for their growth and success.
In June 2022, Macaylah assumed the pivotal role of representing Wadawurrung Country during the closing ceremony of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. As the Engagement Coordinator at Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation for the 2026 event, she commenced her responsibilities, contributing to the seamless execution and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Wadawurrung Country on an international platform.
In addition to her significant role at the Commonwealth Games, Macaylah has made significant contributions in the anti-racism domain as well. She has been actively involved in the AFL's Western Bulldogs Football Club, spearheading their cross-cultural program, which has been instrumental in fostering an inclusive environment and promoting awareness about anti-racism within the sports community.
Macaylah also possesses valuable experience in writing and championing Reconciliation Action Plans. She has been instrumental in promoting First Nations Education within schools, contributing to the implementation and development of educational programs that foster cultural awareness and understanding.
Furthermore, Macaylah has conducted cultural audits, providing organisations with insights into their cultural practices and facilitating opportunities for growth and improvement. Her expertise also extends to conducting workshops that promote cultural sensitivity and enhance cross-cultural understanding. Through these endeavours, she continues to make a meaningful impact on fostering positive relationships and promoting reconciliation between different communities.
